Additional features

How it works:
During inspiration the valve opens allowing you to breathe in easily.
When you exhale, the valve closes and redirects the expired air through a narrow opening on the side of the valve.
This creates Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP) in the mouth which helps keep the upper airways open and prevents snoring and sleep apnea.
For better experience, expiratory pressure can be adjusted by rotating the sleeve to change expiratory resistance.

Annoying to use

"When I wear it it feels like I can't get enough fresh air, making it hard for me to relax enough to sleep. The few times I have managed to sleep with it on I woke up with it bunched around my forehead. I feel like there wasn't enough instruction about how to fit it and use it. So far there have been no benefits to owning it."

not an easy device

"very noisy, but will be OK on a plane. a bit restrictive breathing but takes time to get use to."

OptiPillows Mask

"Very good comfortable seems to be helping me with insomia sleep problems!"

Wayne S. (5/5)

So far very good

"Takes a bit of getting used to but seems to be worth it, but early days yet. Preliminary results show that I can sleep on my back with no snoring and no apneas, which is quite extraordinary given that my sleep tests showed an AHI of 38 and my wife tells me I can snore terribly loud whilst remaining blissfully asleep. I need a couple more weeks to verify these results and would like to discuss with resmed possible improvements in the product and the documentation. Difficult to get to sleep whilst breathing against the maximum resistance but once asleep everything seems fine. An extra strap around the back of the head below the ears would help prevent the unit from loosening and falling off - this has happened once. Getting the right size nasal seal is a bit confusing I ended up using the smallest as the base of the "cone" fits inside my nostril giving a perfect seal. I suspect that is not what the manufacturers intended. Using too big a nosepiece makes it easier for the nasal unit to fall out or be pulled upward by the tension in the straps. Getting the tension in the straps right takes a bit of experimentation. I have to tape my lips shut to prevent mouth breathing, I believe that would be necessary for anyone who uses any EPAP device. Keen to hear back from Resmed regarding this observation ....... Can people train themselves to keep lips tightly shut without any tape whilst using the device ?"
